SANSOUCIE’S SEVEN-POINT NIGHT PROPELS WARRIORS TO 8-0 WIN

Jan 30, 2025

For the next several months, the Rochester Americans will be front and center of the local high school hockey scene as part of a weekly series that featured the latest news and notes, scores and stats of select Section V games around the Greater Rochester Area.

Led by leading-point getter Jake SanSoucie’s four-goal outing and seven-point performance the Webster Schroeder Warriors (11-4-0) dominated in an 8-0 victory over the Churchville-Chili Saints (5-11-0) on Tuesday at Webster Ice Arena.

With the win, the Warriors have won their last three games and show a 9-1-1 mark dating back to Dec. 21 while also earning their 10th win overall on home ice, which is most in all of Section V.

20250128_HSHockey_1.jpgWebster Schroeder, who also claimed last season’s meeting with an 8-3 victory, has five wins against the Saints while Churchville-Chili has three since the start of the 2020-21 campaign. Over the past eight contests in the head-to-head series, the Warriors have outshot the Saints 256-185 while holding them under 30 shots in each contest, which included a 39-13 advantage Tuesday.

SanSoucie posted a season-high four goals and seven points while Zach Broccolo also netted a four-goal outing to go with an assist for a five-point performance for Webster Schroeder. Tucker Derks totaled four assists while Anthony Pusateri plotted three helpers. Tyler Splain and Cody Preston closed out the scoring by chipping in an assist while goaltender Connor Ambeau (3-1-0) produced his first shutout of the season by stopping all 13 shots he faced.

Churchville-Chili, who did not take penalty in the contest, gave Cole Wilson (5-9-0) earned his 16th start of the season. Wilson made 31 saves but suffered the defeat. Since the turn of the New Year, the Saints have dropped seven of their last eight games after beginning the campaign winning five of its first six games.

On the game’s first shot of the contest, SanSoucie scooped up a loose puck before racing towards Wilson all alone on a breakaway. As SanSoucie reached the netminder, he scored his first of what would be four goals just 1:08 into the frame for Webster Schroeder.

Nearly four minutes later, Derks and SanSoucie set up Broccolo to double the Warriors’ lead they took into the intermission while also outshooting the Saints 12-2.

Seven minutes into the second period, SanSoucie and Derks teamed up yet again as they used a series of tic-tac-toe passing before Broccolo extended the lead to three.

With a pair of goals less than 75 seconds into the third stanza, SanSoucie capped off his hat trick as Derks and Broccolo earned the helpers on the first of two before Pusateri provided the assist on the second.

The Warriors continued their quick scoring attack as Broccolo netted his third and fourth goals of the night just 35 seconds apart, making it a 7-0 score.

SanSoucie closed out the scoring on the night by scoring his fourth at the 12:47 mark from Splain and Preston.

Churchville-Chili will take on Canandaigua Academy on Friday, Jan. 31 for a 7:00 p.m. contest at Canandaigua Civic Center. Meanwhile, Webster Schroeder will usher in February on Saturday, Feb. 1 when they face Fairport at Rochester Ice Arena for a 1:30 p.m. matchup.
