SABRES ASSIGN LEVI TO ROCHESTER, RECALL ROSEN

Nov 18, 2024

The Buffalo Sabres announced today that the team has reassigned goaltender Devon Levi to the Rochester Americans and recalled forward Isak Rosen.

Sabres head coach Lindy Ruff said the team made the decision to send Levi to Rochester in an effort to get the 22-year-old more consistent playing time. Levi has played seven of Buffalo’s first 18 games to start this season.

Levi spent the second half of last season with the Amerks and led qualified AHL goaltenders with a .927 save percentage.

“We just had a great conversation with him, and nobody likes going down, but he wants to play too,” Ruff said. “He said it's the first time he's really dealt with (backing up) that long period of time. Good learning experience, but hard.”

Ukko-Pekka Luukkonen is ready to return on Wednesday after missing the last two games with an injury, Ruff said. He will form a tandem with James Reimer, who returned to the Sabres off waivers from Anaheim last week.

Rosen, 21, leads the Amerks with 13 points (4+9) in 14 games this season. The 2021 first-round pick played seven games for the Sabres last season.

Rosen’s recall comes after Ruff announced that forward Jordan Greenway is considered week to week with an injury. Greenway had been playing through the ailment before it forced him to leave practice early on Friday. He will not travel with the team to California.

Tage Thompson and Alex Tuch are also day to day, but neither player has been ruled out for Wednesday’s game. Thompson, who has missed the last two games with a lower-body injury, practiced with the team on Monday. Tuch was absent from the session.
