HIGH SCHOOL GAME OF THE WEEK: WEBSTER VS. FFLOP HAS BEEN POSTPONED

For the next several months, the Rochester Americans will be front and center of the local high school hockey scene as part of a weekly series that featured the latest news and notes, scores and stats of select Section V games around the Greater Rochester Area. 

This week’s High School Game of the Week was suppose to feature the Webster Lakers meeting FFLO on Wednesday contest for a 7:00 p.m. at Webster Ice Arena. The game has been postponed to a later date this season.

The Lakers, who are in their second season in 2024-25 after beginning their inaugural season on Dec. 13, 2023, are the only girls’ team in all of Section V. The roster features 18 skaters and one goaltender in grades 7-12 representing Webster Schroeder and Webster Thomas High Schools, Spry Middle School, and Willink Middle School.

Teagan Coyne, MiKayla Fanale and Madelyn Kuhlenbeck are the three eighth graders on this year’s squad. Katelyn Becker, Nina Pangallo, Margaret Corriveau, Lucy Sykes, Hailee Ross, and Mia Wambach make up the freshman. Harper Blakey, Isabella Crescimanni, Makenzie Beale, and Vivienne Kinkead compose as the 10th graders Ella Buss, Molly Meyer, Jessica Nappi, Molly Smith and Eve Pagano are the juniors. Samantha Cullen and Maddie Meyer are the only two seniors.

Molly Meyer tops all Lakers in goals (4) while her and Maddie Moyer each have four points apiece this season. Buss has a pair of assists to go with one goal whereas Culle has two helpers. Blakey (2), Smith (1), and Fanale (1) each have found the back of the oppostion's net. Nina Pangallo, Ella Pangallo, Corrivea, Ross, and Kuhlenbeck complete the point-getters as they have one assist.

Wambach has made 129 saves in seven contests, which included a season-high of 32 in the season-opener. 

Allyson Watrous, a former Nazareth University hockey player and current Webster Schroeder High School teacher is in her second season as head coach while being accompanied by assistant Nikolle Van Stralen. Kyle Dacey and Nicole Brown are the athletic trainers for the Lakers.
