SABRES LOAN AUBE-KUBEL TO ROCHESTER

Jan 28, 2025

The Buffalo Sabres loaned Nicolas Aube-Kubel to Rochester after the forward cleared waivers on Tuesday afternoon. Forward Tyson Kozak was recalled in a corresponding move.

Aube-Kubel has two points (1+1) in 19 games since joining the Sabres on a one-year deal this past offseason. Sabres coach Lindy Ruff said the recent play of Jiri Kulich and Kozak – two rookies who were not in the opening night lineup – factored into the decision to place Aube-Kubel on waivers.

Kulich has played a top-six role as of late and has 11 points (7+4) in 18 games since Dec. 7. Kozak has played nine games since making his NHL debut on Dec. 5 and has one goal along with 14 blocked shots and a faceoff winning percentage of 52.3.

“He makes the guys around him better in the role he’s playing,” Ruff said in regard to Kozak. “I really have liked what he’s done when he’s been in the lineup.”
