The Rochester Americans announced today that the team has signed defenseman Kyle Bushee and goaltender Billy Sauer to professional tryout contracts.
Bushee, 28, has appeared in 55 ECHL games with the Elmira Jackals this season, recording 24 points (6+18) and 22 penalty minutes. He has also played in two American Hockey League games with the Utica Comets this year. In 19 career AHL games with Portland, Manitoba, St. John’s, Norfolk, Binghamton and Utica, Bushee has recorded three points (1+2) and 12 penalty minutes. The 6-foot-1, 195-pound native of Otsego, Michigan, has also registered 147 points (36+111) and 251 penalty minutes in 391 career ECHL games with Cincinnati, Johnstown, Wheeling and Elmira.
Sauer, a 26-year-old native of Rochester, appeared in 21 ECHL games during the 2011-12 season with the Greenville Road Warriors, Gwinnett Gladiators, Florida Everblades and South Carolina Stingrays. He has played a total of 58 career ECHL games and appeared in 15 AHL games with the Lake Erie Monsters during the 2009-10 campaign. Prior to his professional career, Sauer enjoyed a standout college career at the University of Michigan. The 6-foot-2, 195-pound Sauer was originally selected by the Colorado Avalanche in the seventh round (201st overall) of the 2006 NHL Entry Draft.
