The Rochester Americans announced today that the team has signed forward Hunter Bishop of the South Carolina Stingrays (ECHL) to a professional tryout.

Bishop, 25, has appeared in 38 games for South Carolina this season, recording 34 points (16+18) and 18 penalty minutes to tie for the team-lead in scoring.  He has also played in three AHL games this season with the Lake Erie Monsters.  In 2010-11, the native of Fairbanks, Alaska, appeared in 34 AHL games with the Hamilton Bulldogs, collecting eight points (4+4) and 10 penalty minutes, and also played nine games with the ECHL’s Wheeling Nailers.  Prior to making his professional debut with Hamilton in 2009-10, when he recorded five points (2+3) in nine games with the Bulldogs, the 6-foot, 190-pound Bishop played two seasons at Ohio State University.

The Amerks host the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins at 7:05 p.m. tonight at The Blue Cross Arena in their final game before the AHL All-Star break.  For more information or to purchase tickets, call 1-855-GO-AMERKS or visit
