2013 IIHF WORLD JUNIOR CHAMPIONSHIP FEATURES FOUR SABRES PROSPECTS

A hockey holiday tradition – the IIHF World Junior Championship – kicked off Dec. 26 in Ufa, Russia.  Ten teams are vying for the gold medal in Russia over the next two weeks, with Sweden looking to defend the goal medal it won last January when the tournament was hosted in Alberta, Canada.

All of Team USA’s and Team Canada's games in the 2013 World Junior Championship can be seen on NHL Network.

There will be four Buffalo Sabres prospects participating in this year's tournament,including 2011 first round draft choice Joel Armia (Finland), 2012 first round draft choice Mikhail Grigorenko (Russia), 2012 second round draft choice Jake McCabe (USA) and free agent signee Andrei Makarov (Russia).  In addition, Fairport, NY native Cole Bardreau, a forward at Cornell University, will serve as an alternate captain for Team USA.
