The Rochester Americans have partnered with Urology Associates of Rochester to participate in “Movember,” as several members of the team are growing mustaches to raise awareness for men’s health, specifically prostate cancer and other cancers that affect men, during the month of November.

Among the Amerks players participating in Movember this month are goaltenders David Leggio and Connor Knapp; forwards Luke Adam, Brian Flynn, Marcus Foligno, Maxime Legault, Mark Mancari, Jonathan Parker, Evan Rankin, Rick Schofield, Kevin Sundher and Nick Tarnasky; and defensemen Alex Biega, T.J. Brennan, Nick Crawford, Matt MacKenzie, Brayden McNabb and Mark Pysyk.

Leggio will be spearheading the fundraising efforts as he is teaming up with Urology Associates of Rochester to help raise funds for the Lipson Cancer Center at Rochester General Hospital and ZeroCancer.org. In addition to Leggio and UAR making donations to these causes, Amerks fans will have the chance to make in-game donations at home games during the month.  The first 20 fans to make a donation of at least $10 during each of the first five home games of the month will receive an Amerks puck signed by Leggio and will also be entered into a raffle to win a game-used goalie stick autographed by Leggio.

On Friday, Nov. 30, the Amerks will host Mustaches and Movember Night presented by UAR during the game against the Toronto Marlies.  The first 1,000 fans will receive a free Movember-themed T-shirt courtesy of UAR.

Throughout the month, fans can track the progress of Amerks players’ mustaches by checking out photos at the team’s Facebook page.

About Movember: During November each year, Movember is responsible for the sprouting of mustaches on thousands of men’s faces, in the US and around the world. With their Mo’s, these men raise vital funds and awareness for men’s health, specifically prostate cancer and other cancers that affect men.
