The Rochester Americans announced today that the team has signed forward Maxime Legault to an American Hockey League (AHL) contract.
Legault, 23, recorded 17 points (8+9) and 19 penalty minutes in 62 games for the Amerks last season while also appearing in three Calder Cup Playoff games. In 2010-11, Legault registered 12 goals, 12 assists and 83 penalty minutes in 67 games for the Portland Pirates during his first full season in the AHL. A native of St. Agathe, Quebec, Legault was selected by the Sabres in the seventh round (194th overall) of the 2009 NHL Entry Draft and has appeared in 134 career AHL games and 12 postseason contests.
The 6-foot-2, 195-pound Legault played four seasons in the QMJHL with Shawinigan and Cape Breton, totaling 112 points (58+54) and 279 penalty minutes in 192 games.
