The inaugural Amerks Knee Hockey Tournament is set to take place this Saturday (March 31) at The Blue Cross Arena beginning at noon.  Below is a complete guide with all the information participants will need to know

CHECK IN: Doors open at 11:30pm outside of The Riverside Room

  • Parking Notice: Please allow extra time to find parking the morning of the Knee Hockey Tournament as a Rochester Knighthawks lacrosse game will be happening simultaneously at the Blue Cross Arena.
  • Entrance: Please enter the Knee Hockey Tournament through the second door of the Blue Cross Arena on the Genesee River side of the building. This will be the only entrance and exit available for the event due to the lacrosse game taking place.  Please do not enter the building from the Exchange Street entrance as you will not be allowed access. Signage and personnel will be available to assist. (click to see map)
  • Please check in 30 minutes prior to your team’s first game. Your whole team must be present to check in. Please have all waivers signed prior to check in.


  • Food: Food for the participants will be provided. Each participant will receive a voucher for a complimentary hot dog, bag of chips, and drink. Food will be available in the Memorial Room only. Additional food and beverages will be available for purchase in the Memorial Room as well. Please do not bring any outside food into the building.
  • Participants, families and friends should remain in the designated Knee Hockey areas AT ALL TIMES as to not interfere with the Knighthawks lacrosse game
  • Medals will be awarded to the Winners and Runner-Ups immediately following the final Championship Playoff game.




Applicable to all participants

  • Knee Hockey sticks will be provided to each participant.
  • Participants are allowed to bring their own Knee Hockey sticks if preferred.
  • Teams may bring a Knee Hockey goalie stick of their own.
  • No shoes while playing; participants must wear socks.
  • No ice hockey equipment allowed with the exception of helmets.

TOURNAMENT RULES: Applicable to both divisions
1. All games will be one period, 15 minutes in length.

2. Teams must be at their "rink" 5 minutes before their scheduled game time.

3. Teams that are late for their start time will forfeit that game. 3a. A forfeit will result in a 1-0 score toward a potential tiebreaker.

4. Participating teams will play a minimum of 3 games.

5. After round robin play, if teams are tied they will go to a tiebreaker format. (see tiebreakers below)

6. Sticks are not to be raised higher than the participant’s waist level.

7. Each team is allowed a maximum of four participants on its active roster and playing at any one time.

8. Participants must remain on their knees at all times during play.

9. Two (2) points will be awarded for a win, One (1) point for a tie, and 0 for a loss.

10. Any ball leaving the playing area will result in a change of possession.

11. Any penalty may result in a penalty shot.

12. Fighting and/or any form of verbal abuse towards officials, opponents and spectators WILL NOT be tolerated and WILL result in ejection from the tournament. This rule applies to players, spectators, coaches, and/or any other attendees.

13. Enforcement of these rules will be at the officials' discretion.

TIE-BREAKER: If teams are tied following round robin play
1. Number of Wins

2. Head to Head (most goals scored against each other)

3. Goal % (GF+GA)/GF from round robin games only

4. First Goal scored in head to head game

5. Shootout
