(Rochester, July 30)... Rochester Americans forward Brady Calla is this week’s featured player on Amerks.com in the eighth installment of the team’s summer player profiles. Calla split his rookie season between Rochester and the ECHL’s Florida Everblades, where he recorded 10 points (3+7) and 37 penalty minutes in 49 combined professional games. The 22-year-old skated in 33 games this season with the Amerks, scoring one goal and assisting on five others for six points.
A native of Kelowna, British Columbia, Calla has appeared in 47 career American Hockey League games with the Amerks, notching 11 points (3+8) and 25 penalty minutes. The 6-foot-1, 205-pound forward was the Florida Panthers’ third-round selection (73rd overall) in the 2006 National Hockey League Entry Draft.

Scoring my first goal.

Back home to Kelowna, British Columbia, Canada.

The last week of July.
4.) What are you working on to make it to the NHL?
I am working on my skills and play-making.
5.) How do you spend your free time?
Relaxing and enjoying the summer sun down by the lake.
6.) What is your favorite vacation spot?
Cabo San Lucas, Mexico.
7.) Did you watch the NHL Playoffs? If so, what team were you pulling for?
I was pulling for Chicago.
8.) Any plans for the summer?
Not really. Just doing a lot of summer training and getting prepared for the upcoming season.
9.) Who is your favorite athlete?
Jarome Iginla.
10.) What’s one thing you can’t live without?
Hot sauce.
11.) In the summer, do you prefer to work out or cook out?
WORK OUT!

Ice cream.
13.) What is your favorite sports movie?
Major League.
14.) What do you enjoy the most about playing in Rochester?
I really enjoy coming out of the rink when it’s a nice, sunny day.
15.) Who on your team is destined to become a reality TV star?
Mike Duco.
16.) Why is hockey the best sport?
It’s fast, hard-hitting and exciting.
17.) Are you looking forward to 2010-11?
Yes, I am very excited to try and achieve my goals and be back with the team this coming season.
