AMERKS ANNOUNCE ROSTER MOVES

(Rochester, October 6)... Rochester Americans Vice President of Hockey Operations Ted Nolan announced today that the Florida Panthers have recalled goaltender Alexander Salak. The Amerks have also reassigned defenseman Matt Duffy to the Florida Everblades of the ECHL.

Salak, 22, spent all of training camp and preseason with the Panthers. The Strakonice, Czech Republic, native boasted a 20-20-9 record with a 2.40 goals-against average and a .923 save percentage in 52 games last season with TPS Turku of the FNL. Salak signed his first National Hockey League contract with Florida as a free agent on May 29, 2009.

Duffy heads to the ECHL after playing in Rochester’s home and season opening 3-2 OT loss to the Lake Erie Monsters this past Saturday night at The Blue Cross Arena. In 10 AHL games with the Amerks, the 24-year-old Windham, Maine, native has scored two goals and four assists for six points. He also notched an assist in three playoff games last season with the Everblades. Prior to turning pro, Duffy played four seasons at the University of Maine, registering 26 points (14+12) and 100 penalty minutes in 96 games for the Black Bears. Duffy was the Florida Panthers’ fourth-round selection (104th overall) in the 2005 NHL Entry Draft.

Rochester kicks off its two-game weekend on Friday, October 9th as the Lake Erie Monsters return to The Blue Cross Arena. The 7:05 p.m. rematch of opening night will be the second of eight scheduled meetings between the North Division opponents this season and will be broadcast live on SportsRadio 1280 WHTM and FM 107.3, Rochester’s Sports Talk. The game will also be televised live on Time Warner SportsNet Channel 26.
